Where the money goes
This is a business, not a charity, and we would rather say so plainly than let you assume otherwise. What we can do is show you exactly where every shekel goes, and keep showing you.
The figures on this page are the intended split and will be fixed before the app accepts its first payment.
The two prices
₪18
A prayer said for you at the site, and a recording of it sent back to you.
₪9
A prayer said for you by someone whose presence at the site was verified. No recording.
A ₪18 request, broken down
| Apple or Google | ₪2.70 | 15% | The app store commission. Unavoidable — selling digital content in an app requires their payment system. 15% rather than 30% under the small business programme. |
|---|---|---|---|
| The site institution | ₪9.00 | 50% | Paid to the body that maintains the holy site — the upkeep, the access, the people who keep it open. A supplier relationship, with a written agreement per institution. |
| Running the service | ₪6.30 | 35% | Servers, audio storage, the transcription that keeps moderation possible, the domain and mail, and the people who build and support it. |
A ₪9 request
The same proportions: ₪1.35 to the store, ₪4.50 to the institution, ₪3.15 to running the service.
Tax
Apple and Google are the merchant of record. They collect and remit VAT and sales tax in every country where it is owed, before we see anything — so the 15% above already sits on top of tax handled by them. What reaches us is business income, taxed where the company is registered.
What we will not claim
We are not asking for donations and nothing here is tax-deductible for you. Your payment buys a service. We pay institutions because they maintain the places that service depends on, not out of charity — and we would rather be exact about that than borrow the warmth of a word we have not earned.
Keeping this honest
These percentages are published before you pay, not after. If they change, this page changes first. We intend to publish what was actually disbursed, by institution, once there is a full period to report.
