Delete your account

You can delete your Yad Avshalom account and everything in it. This page explains exactly what is destroyed and what is not. You do not need the app installed and you do not need to sign in to read it.

Application: Yad Avshalom · package and bundle identifier com.yadavshalom.app

Two ways to do it

1. In the app — the fastest way

Open the app, go to the Account tab, and choose Delete my account. A confirmation screen states what goes and what stays before you commit. Deletion happens immediately.

2. By email — if you no longer have the app

Write to delete@yadavshalom.org from the email address on your account, and ask for your account to be deleted. We use the sending address to confirm the account is yours, so a message from any other address cannot be acted on.

Include nothing else. Do not send medical details or the names in your requests — we already hold them and we do not need them repeated.

What is deleted

Destroyed outright, not archived and not anonymised:

What stays, and why

Prayers you said for other people stay with the people who asked for them. The link back to you is severed, so those recordings are no longer connected to your name or your account.

This is deliberate. A recording belongs to the person who asked for it — it says their relative's name aloud, and it was made for them. We do not take someone else's recording away from them because you decided to leave. You never had access to those recordings in any case: once a prayer is sent, the person who recorded it cannot play it back.

This cannot be undone

Deletion is permanent. There is no recovery, no grace period and no way for us to restore a deleted account. Recordings made for you are gone, so if you want to keep one, save it before you delete.

One thing still being finalised

Recordings are in any case deleted automatically after a retention period, whether or not you delete your account. The exact length of that period is not yet fixed and will be stated here and in the privacy policy once it is.
